Jon Knight and Soulstack

The most famous group in town delivers blues and soul  in a recognizably classy but fuzzy way.  The note-perfect professionalism of the entire band will make an instant fan out of anyone – guaranteed.

Soulstack rolled out their full-length debut, “Big Red” in 2012. While at the same time classy as trashy, this debut was the band’s first answer to their own question; “How far can we sonically push roots music?” It garnered substantial airplay and chart position with commercial and college radio. This release was a Hi-Fi representation of their unique live show, already
known in circles as a finely tuned machine burning down the highway from Detroit influenced fuzz-tinged rootsy rock’n’roll to swampy Alabama soul.

Following suit, in 2013 Soulstack released ‘Five Finger Discount’ to similar applause, accolades and further acclaim. With these two releases garnering international radio play, TV shows, nominations, awards, large north American festival shows and an European debut appearance (Moulin Blues, Netherlands), Soulstack was positioning themselves as a band to watch.

Equally comfortable behind their electric guitars and big drums, or picking acoustic guitars, backed by percussion and hand drum; Soulstack delivers a visceral experience – one of seasoned musicians playing the music of their roots with authentic realism. It’s the sound of Staples Singers-inspired southern harmony, tremolo-drenched baritone guitar, with a late-sixties New
Orleans-style rhythm section and the gurgle of a Hammond organ driving it along. All with beautiful imagery in the songwriting and as huge a lead vocal as you can slam onto tape out front.
